Dr. Ben Carson Defends Criticism of Obama on Health Care: 'Somebody Has to Stand Up to the Bullies'
Dr. Ben Carson, director of Pediatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, recently criticized health care spending in front of President Obama during his keynote address at the Annual National Prayer Breakfast. Critics, however, came out swinging after his remarks, saying that Dr. Carson made the comments as he showboated for a special occasion.
President Obama himself reacted
to the address, saying that he appreciated the speech and that he admired Dr. Carson.
Today on Your World, Dr. Carson told Neil Cavuto that we, as a nation, need to be able to discuss intelligent ways to solve the problems that threaten to destroy us. “There are a group of people who want to silence everybody, […] and somebody has to be courageous enough to actually stand up to, you know, the bullies.”
“There’s no question that [President Obama] has advocated, you know, basically a policy of 'tax the rich,'” said Carson. “I have advocated a policy that comes from the Bible, which is a very fair policy of proportional taxation. If it was good enough for God, why wouldn’t it be good enough for us? The minute you deviate away from that, you begin to get into all kinds of biases.”
