Emotional Video: Ret. Army Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha Receives Medal of Honor at White House Ceremony
In a ceremony that took place Monday afternoon at the White House, Army Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha (Ret.) received the Medal of Honor for his heroism during a battle in Afghanistan.
Emotions were palpable on the faces of Romesha and the family members of his fallen comrades. Tears filled Romesha's eyes as the president read:
"More Americans, their bodies were still out there, and Clint Romesha lives the soldier's creed, 'I will never leave a fallen comrade.' So, he and his team started charging as enemy fire poured down, and they kept charging. Fifty meters, 80 meters, ultimately a 100-meter run through a hail of bullets, and they reached their fallen friends, and they brought them home."
