Peter Johnson Jr. on Candidates for Papacy: ‘It Might Be An American’

“The Catholic church is looking for someone that understands a multicultural society, someone that understands digital technology, someone who is a ‘people’s pope,’” explained legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. on today’s Fox and Friends.

“That’s what we need,” he added.

Earlier in the segment, Johnson also noted that New York City’s Cardinal Dolan

— whom Johnson considers a personal friend — is a strong contender for the papacy.

“This is really the first time that an American has been seriously considered,” stated Johnson, echoing a report by Joan Lewis of EWTN.

In addition to Dolan, Johnson discussed several other potential successors, including Cardinal Turkson of Ghana, Cardinal Ouellet of Canada, Cardinal Scola of Milan and Cardinal Bagnasco of Genoa.

Watch the segment below for Johnson’s full analysis.
