Police Press Conference: Jeremiah Mackay Identified as Second Officer Killed in Dorner Manhunt, "Investigation Is Over"
The manhunt for fugitive ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner ended yesterday in a police shootout and a fire at a cabin in Big Bear, California. San Bernadino Sheriff John McMahon said in a press conference Wednesday night, "We believe that this investigation is over at this point, and we’ll just need to move on from here."
McMahon also said that law enforcement didn't burn down the cabin intentionally, describing the scene as a "warzone." Authorities would still not confirm
the remains found in the cabin are Dorner's.
Detective Jeremiah Mackay was shot and killed during a gunfire exchange between the suspect and and police. The 35-year-old officer worked with the department for 15 years. He leaves behind a wife and two children ages 7 and 4 months.
