DEBATE: CNN Panelists Compare Christopher Dorner to 'Real-Life Superhero,' Say His Actions Were Like a 'Denzel Washington Movie'

Two panelists who appeared on CNN made some curious remarks about the Christopher Dorner manhunt, which ended Tuesday with the former LAPD officer dead inside a burned-out cabin in the mountains of Big Bear, California. Dorner is believed to have gone on a killing spree, first

murdering the daughter of an LAPD officer who represented him at a disciplinary hearing that eventually resulted in his dismissal from the force. He also killed the woman's fiance, a Riverside police officer and a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy in the span of about a week. In the CNN discussion, professor Marc Lamont Hill said Dorner is "like a real-life superhero to many people," comparing the manhunt and shootout to watching "Django Unchained" in real life. "Now don't get me wrong. What he did was awful, killing innocent people was bad, but when you read his manifesto, when you read the message that he left, he wasn’t entirely crazy. He had a plan and a mission here. And many people aren't rooting for him to kill innocent people. They are rooting for somebody who was wronged to get a kind of revenge against the system. It’s almost like watching 'Django Unchained' in real life. It’s kind of exciting,” Hill said. Another panelist, Buzzfeed's Jack Moore, said the story of Dorner's actions "in some ways resembles a Denzel Washington movie where someone is wronged and he stands up for himself and he goes down in a blaze of glory."

On America's Newsroom, Martha MacCallum discussed the comments with Fox News contributors Monica Crowley and Doug Schoen. Crowley immediately pointed out that four families are heartbroken because of Dorner, calling the statements on CNN "outrageous and totally inappropriate." "This man was a brutal, merciless, unrepentant killer. What comments like this do is glorify that," said Crowley. Martha said even if one assumes for argument's sake that Dorner was right all along and was indeed wronged by the LAPD, "still nothing will ever take away or make right what this man did." Schoen agreed, saying Hill and Moore "should be ashamed of themselves." Watch the discussion:
