FOLLOW UP: Idaho Man Accused of Slapping Toddler, Joe Rickey Hundley, Faces Assault Charge, Fired From Job
Over the weekend, we told you about the shocking incident that occurred aboard an airplane when a two-year-old boy was slapped by a stranger
The suspect, 60-year-old Joe Rickey Hundley, allegedly
used a racial slur as well, and Jessica Bennett said her son Jonah was bleeding after the attack. Hundley, a native of Idaho, is facing a federal assault charge and has now been fired from his job as president of Unitech Composites and Structures.
The incident took place Feb. 8 on a flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta. Bennett said Hundley was drinking during the flight and becoming increasingly belligerent. She said she stood with Jonah for most of the flight as a result, but had to sit down when the plane was landing.
When Jonah started crying, Bennett says Hundley whispered a racial slur in her ear twice and struck her son.
