Laura Ingraham Responds After Colorado Dem Lawmaker Says Women Use Call Boxes, Whistles to Protect Themselves

When Colorado lawmakers were debating a bill to prohibit concealed carry on college campuses, State Rep. Joe Salazar (D) raised some eyebrows with his argument for why women should be able to protect themselves against an attacker without carrying a gun.

"It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know

if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop ... pop a round at somebody," said Salazar.

Laura Ingraham said on Fox and Friends that these comments should be just as outrageous to women as the ones made by Republicans Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, which were highlighted by Democrats during the presidential campaign as part of a so-called GOP "war on women."

She said Salazar's statement was "beyond reprehensible," and said Salazar deserves to "never work in politics again" as a result.

"I suggest one thing to Mr. Salazar. Why doesn't he try this first when he's attacked by someone who's 400 pounds going up against him? Let's see him crawl to a call box. That's one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. The greatest equalizer is a gun in the hands of a woman who is well trained in its use," said Ingraham.
