Joe Biden: 'If You Want to Protect Yourself, Buy a Shotgun'
At a roundtable discussion yesterday about gun control, Vice President Joe Biden said people who are worried about protecting themselves at home should simply buy a shotgun. His overall point, it seems, was
that a person doesn't need a semi-automatic weapon like an AR-15 to protect oneself and his or her property.
Biden said he keeps two shotguns in a locked cabinet at his home in Delaware.
"We live in an area that's wooded and secluded," Biden said. "I said, Jill, if there's ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here ... put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house. I promise you whoever's coming in is not gonna. You don't need an AR-15 (assault rifle). It's harder to aim. It's harder to use and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself."
The Obama administration is calling for Congress to renew the federal assault weapons ban.
