Saeed Abedini, American Pastor Jailed in Iran Writes About Physical, Psychological Torture in Prison
In a just released letter, the American pastor jailed in Iran describes physical and psychological torture he’s enduring. Last year, Saeed Abedini was sentenced to eight years in an Iranian prison because of his Christian faith.
The pastor’s wife, Naghmeh Abedini, spoke to Shannon Bream on America’s News HQ. Abedini said, “The Iranian government would like to silence us and had initially tried by saying he would be released
, trying to silence the media. It’s really important that we continue voicing our concern over his health.”
Saeed Abedini wrote, “Various (bullying) groups, the psychological warfare, a year of not seeing my family, physical violence, actions committed to humiliate me, insults, being mocked, being confronted with extremists in the prison who create another prison within the prison walls, and the death threats...”
Jordan Sekulow, the executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice which is working to free Abedini, said on ANHQ that Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) asked John Kerry on the day he was confirmed as Secretary of State to respond in writing about the pastor. Sekulow said there’s finally bipartisan support in the United States government as well as the ACLJ’s NGO presence at the United Nations working to help free him.
