CAUGHT ON TAPE: Youth Hockey Coach Sentenced to 15 Days in Jail for Tripping Opposing Players
So much for sportsmanship...
A youth hockey coach in British Columbia landed himself a 15-day jail sentence and a year of probation by tripping two opposing players in the handshake line.
Martin Tremblay, 48, was caught on tape committing the act after his son's game was over. The 13-year-old boy who Tremblay tripped broke his wrist in the fall and knocked over another boy in front of him.
Video of the incident was quickly posted on YouTube last June. In the sentencing, the judge said Tremblay's actions were akin to a "cowardly sucker punch."
According to CBC, Tremblay's lawyer said his client suffers from depression and had been off his medication at the time of the incident.
