'Hannity' Exclusive -- Bob Woodward Speaks Out on Threat From the White House: 'It’s Not the Way to Operate in a White House'

In an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity, veteran journalist Bob Woodward detailed the threat he received from White House aide Gene Sperling.

In recent weeks, Woodward has been an outspoken critic of the Obama administration’s handling of the sequester. After an intense phone conversation, Sperling emailed Woodward, saying in part, “I do truly believe you should rethink your comment about saying that POTUS asking for revenues is moving the goal post. I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim.”

Woodward described the 30-minute call with Sperling that led to the email, saying that Sperling was shouting at him. “He was really worked up,” he said.

Woodward refrained from using the word “threat” in association with the call or email, saying, “Obviously he didn’t like being challenged on this at all, but you know people have said well, this was a threat or I was saying it was a threat. I haven’t used that language, but it’s not the way to operate in a White House.”

“When you say you’re going to regret challenging us, I just think that’s a mistake,” he said.

Woodward claimed that this isn’t unusual for the White House. “The problem is there are all kinds of reporters who are much less experienced, who are younger, and if they’re going to get roughed up in this way … And I’ve been flooded with emails from people in the press saying this is exactly the way the White House works, they are trying to control and they don’t want to be challenged or crossed,” he said.
