Mitt Romney's First Post-Election Interview: 'It Kills Me Not to Be in the White House'

In a Fox News Sunday exclusive, Chris Wallace sat down with Mitt and Ann Romney in their first interview since losing the presidential election. In his one-on-one with Mitt Romney, Wallace asked the former Republican candidate about the campaign and how President Obama is dealing with the nation’s problems since his reelection.

But first, why should anyone listen to Mitt Romney? "Well, I recognize that as the guy who lost the election," Romney said. "I’m not in a position to tell everybody else how to win.

They’re not going to listen and I don’t have the credibility to do that anyway. But I still care and I still believe that there are principles that we need to stand for.”

He told Wallace, "“I look at what’s happening now -- I wish I were there. It kills me not to be there, not to be in the White House doing what needs to be done."

Romney says that the expiration of the Bush tax cuts and the sequestration are “an almost once in generation opportunity for America to solve its fiscal problems. If we do that we can become more competitive globally and America can lead the world for the coming century.”

He said, “The hardest thing about losing is watching this critical moment, this golden moment, just slip away with politics.”

Romney attributed his loss to the incumbency of the president and public support for Obamacare. He acknowledged that this campaign was more successful than his first, but says he will not run again. However, he added, "Sitting on the sidelines when so much is at stake is just not in my nature.”

From Chris Christie embracing President Obama after Superstorm Sandy to the future of the Republican Party, Romney answers it all! Watch the interview below:
