TRAGIC: Lion Kills Volunteer at Cat Haven Sanctuary in California
A lion attack ended in deadly results for a volunteer at a wild animal preserve in Dunlap, California. The attack happened on Wednesday at Cat Haven, which is home to rare leopards, cheetahs, tigers and lions. The male lion in question, named Couscous, is pictured above.
Fox News reporter Michelle Macaluso said the intern-volunteer usually enters the cages around 10:00 a.m. for feeding. The incident happened
around 12:30 p.m. and it’s unknown why she was in the cage. Officials say the sheriff’s department shot and killed the lion after the attack.
Macaluso reported that Cat Haven has been around for 15 years and has no history of violent animal attacks. Employees say Couscous wasn’t the warmest and generally only liked to be around the founder of the sanctuary.
