Legendary Football Coach Lou Holtz Passionately Schools Brian Kilmeade on Why College Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Legendary college football coach Lou Holtz wouldn’t let Brian Kilmeade get a word in edge-wise this morning during a debate on whether NCAA athletes should be paid.
Holtz made a passionate argument that the education and life experience afforded the players should be enough, and said that paying players would raise a myriad of issues. “Where does the money go, Brian? […] What happens to women’s soccer, what happens to women’s basketball? […] In addition to that, who builds the facilities? Who provides the various facilities for them to improve and play? […] You want a job? Drop out of school and go to work for Wal-Mart!”
Kilmeade did his best to argue that certain players have unique talents that make them more valuable to their university than your average student athlete.
