Why Is Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers on the Rise?
From the murder of Tom Clements in Colorado to that of two prosecutors in Texas, violence against law enforcement officials seems to be on a dramatic rise. The latest FBI statistics show the number of law enforcement officials killed annually jumping from 41 in 2008 to 72 in 2011.
Mark Fuhrman believes this is a sign of the times. “We’re looking at really the success in a lot of third world countries of violence against government officials and the police.”
He believes that socio-political influences on police departments make them less proactive and more reactive.
