Tsarnaevs May Have Gotten $100K in Taxpayer-Funded Benefits
Judy Clarke, who is regarded as one of the most successful public defenders in the country, has joined the defense team for Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. She’s helped a number of high-profile criminals avoid the death penalty, including the Unabomber and Jared Loughner. A public defender means American taxpayers will pay for his defense.
It’s also been reported that taxpayers have supported the Boston bombing suspects’ parents for years, and by some accounts, up to $100K. The older suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, received food stamp assistance through his wife.
Rick Leventhal reports that Massachusetts is now conducting an internal investigation of the Tsarnaev family’s benefits history to determine if there was sufficient oversight.
