Ted Cruz Challenges Joe Biden to Gun Debate During NRA Convention
The National Rifle Association kicked off its annual convention in Houston, Texas on Friday. More than 70,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event – the largest crowd in the group’s history.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) challenged Vice President Joe Biden to a debate on gun laws. During his convention speech, Sen. Cruz said, “If he believes the answer to violent crime is not prosecuting felons and fugitives, not prosecuting gun crimes, but going after the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens, I would like to invite the vice president to engage in an hour long conversation and debate: how do we stop crime?”
He also criticized the media, saying, “If the media doesn’t like it, and we know they wont, we know where they can go.”
Gun control advocates plan to demonstrate outside the convention today.
