ALIVE: 3 Ohio Women Missing for 10 Years; Listen to 911 Audio
Listen to the 911 call from Amanda Berry, one of women who’d been kidnapped.
Three women who vanished about a decade ago have been found alive. A 52-year-old man is in custody tonight in connection to this case. They had disappeared in three separate cases, but were found together in Cleveland, Ohio after one of the women escaped to a neighbor's house and called police.
Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and a third woman were found earlier on Monday. According to FoxNews.com, the identity of the third woman hadn't been confirmed, but Fox 8 and other local media identified her as Michelle Knight.
According to FoxNews.com, “Berry disappeared at age 16 on April 21, 2003, when she called her sister to say she was getting a ride home from her job at a Burger King. DeJesus disappeared at age 14 on her way home from school about a year later. The Plain Dealer newspaper reports Knight had been missing since 2002.”
On the Record played the terrifying 911 call made by Berry. She can be heard telling the operator, “I need police. […] I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years and I’m here, I’m free now.”
She identifies a Hispanic man as the kidnapper to the operator and says that he left the house but will be back soon.
Pete Krouse from The Cleveland Plain Dealer spoke to Greta Van Susteren about the latest on this story. The three women are at the hospital and are reportedly in fair condition. Krouse spoke to several neighbors who know the man in question but say they never saw the three women.
The suspect apparently used to only enter the house from the back door, but “nobody suspected a thing,” Krouse said.
