Bill O'Reilly Fires Back at Jon Stewart Over Media's Benghazi Coverage
Does Benghazi really matter? O'Reilly called out the media, then talked to the mother of one of the slain Americans.
In his Talking Points Memo last night, Bill O'Reilly took on the media, and "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, for downplaying the Benghazi hearings and criticizing Fox News for its coverage. Stewart cited other attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities from 2001 to 2008 in the Bush administration, saying there was no Republican outrage over those incidents and only three hearings in those years on embassy security.
O'Reilly fired back by saying the information apparently came from far-left websites Daily Kos and Media Matters.
"Many of the cited attacks occurred in Iraq, during the war and none of the attacks were at the level of Benghazi. Not even close," said O'Reilly.
Bill then discussed the aftermath of the Benghazi attack with Pat Smith, mother of Sean Smith, a Foreign Service Officer who was killed in the assault.
She said that the president, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice all told her the anti-Islam video was to blame for the attack "face to face" a few days after the attack.
O'Reilly called that "disturbing," asking if she thinks there is some kind of conspiracy or cover-up behind this. Smith said she doesn't know, but said officials assured her they were going to get to the bottom of what happened and share the information with her.
But she says Sept. 14 was the last day she heard anything from the Obama administration on her son's death.
