Would the Founding Fathers Have Condoned NSA Snooping?

Michelle Malkin and the Fox and Friends hosts discussed whether those who call Edward Snowden a "hero" truly understand the possible national security implications of his leaks.

As seen on Fox and Friends

Edward Snowden continues to reveal things about the NSA's spying capabilities, including a claim in the South China Morning Post that the U.S. has been hacking Chinese computers for years. The Fox and Friends hosts discussed the situation with Michelle Malkin, who pointed out that people need to be careful before supporting Snowden, because there are many "blabbermouths who don't think our government should do anything at all to combat our enemies."

Gretchen Carlson says she worries about how national security has been jeopardized as a result of Snowden's disclosures. The NSA Director said yesterday in the Senate that "great harm has been done" and that the NSA will lose capabilities as a result of Snowden's actions.

Malkin responded to the fact that the ACLU and many liberal Democrats are now on the same side of this issue as right-wing conservatives like Rand Paul.

"I would remind them that the Founding Fathers themselves understood the vital role of intelligence when waging war. George Washington was the first intelligence officer and we did the kinds of things that Edward Snowden is now blabbing about and condemning," she argued.

Brian Kilmeade asked whether we want "a 29-year-old high school dropout deciding what our country should be doing."

They went on to talk about a new Fox News poll that shows only 5% of respondents say they trust the government a "great deal." Thirty-two percent said they have a "fair amount" of trust and confidence in the government, while 41% said "not that much" and 22% have "none at all."
