Gov't Agencies Wasting Millions on Benefits Paid to Dead People

As seen on Fox and Friends

Sometimes a discussion about what needs to be cut from the federal budget can prompt a spirited debate. This is not one of those cases.

On Fox and Friends this morning, Brian Kilmeade told us about the millions and millions of dollars in benefits paid out to dead people by federal agencies each month. For instance, the USDA doled out $33 million in benefits to the dead between 2008 and 2012, according to The New York Times.

He went over the egregious examples of waste with columnist Scottie Nell Hughes, who said "oddly enough" these mistakes usually end up benefiting Democrats. She pointed out that 1.8 million dead people remain on the voter rolls, and recalled that in November, there were stories of dead people all over the country having their votes recorded in the election.

She said that some of the examples of dead people receiving checks may be instances of fraud, and called on the government to look into those cases for possible prosecution.
