Rand Paul: Obama Admin Put More Security at WWII Memorial Than in Benghazi

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) made some waves this week with a tweet pointing out that the Obama administration had more security guards at the WWII memorial than at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi prior to the terror attack that killed four Americans a year ago.

Paul was a guest of Greta Van Susteren Wednesday night, and elaborated on the point after discussing what he believes needs to be done in order to reopen the government. He said that he meant it as more of a joke, but "it's really kind of serious and kind of sad."

"There was a time during the attack in Benghazi when there were five people there protecting four people and the ambassador. There weren't many people protecting him. Today there were seven people trying to keep the World War II vets from seeing the monument," said Paul, adding that he believes someone in the Obama administration made an "absurd decision" to put up the barricades and make sure the vets could not enter the memorial as a way of making Republicans look bad.

Watch the segment above, and check out On the Record, tonight at 10p/1a ET as Greta sits down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
