Plane Passenger’s Act of Kindness Toward Autistic Child Goes Viral
A plane passenger’s random act of kindness toward a child with autism has gone viral.
Shanell Mouland and her family were flying home to Canada from their Disney World vacation last week when businessman Eric Kunkel sat down next to Kate, Mouland’s 3-year-old daughter who has autism.
Kate called Kunkel “Daddy.” Instead of getting annoyed by the distraction, Kunkel put away his work, took out his iPad and chatted with Kate for the whole flight.
Mouland took to the Web to write a blog post thanking the mystery man for his kindness. Mouland's husband and five-year-old daughter were sitting in another section on the plane.
The post quickly went viral and ended up reaching Kunkel, who has since contacted Mouland via Facebook.
About one in 88 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
