Huge Wind Gust Blows Away Inflatable 'Bounce House,' Injuring 2 Kids

11a ET UPDATE: Jonathan Hunt brought us the latest details this morning, including on the conditions of the two injured boys.

The five-year-old suffered a serious brain injury when he fell onto a parked car and then onto the pavement. Hunt reports that the boy is in a medically-induced coma. The six-year-old hit the pavement, breaking his arms and his jaw and sustaining internal injuries.

We're seeing pictures this morning of a terrifying scene that unfolded in upstate New York, where two children were seriously injured when a gust of wind swept an inflatable "bounce house" into the air. The freak accident happened Monday afternoon outside an apartment near Albany.

The "bounce house" was blown more than 50 feet in the air, traveling from the apartment complex, over a wooded area, and then landing on a middle school's field. The photo above was snapped by a student who was preparing for a lacrosse game at the school, and published by the Glens Falls Post-Star.

Two boys, ages five and six, were inside the inflatable toy as it was swept away. One landed on a parked car and the other on pavement after falling an estimated 15 feet. One of the boys suffered a serious head injury and the other was reported to have two broken arms and facial injuries.

Both were reportedly conscious and alert Tuesday.

A 10-year-old girl suffered some scrapes, falling out of the "bounce house" just as it took off into the air. The toy had been secured in the ground with stakes, but the gust of wind blew them out.

The "bounce house" is a Little Tikes brand, manufactured by MGA Entertainment. The company said in a statement it is "looking into what happened."
