‘The Only Reality They Know’: Hannity Tours Indoor Playground in Sderot, Israel
Sean Hannity toured an indoor playground in Sderot, Israel, where between 800 and 900 children play each day because it’s not safe to go outside.
Shahar Hermelin, of the Jewish National Fund, said that the architect wanted to build a big merry-go-round for the children, but IDF came in and said they could not; it takes 25 seconds to stop a merry-go-round, and the children only have 15 seconds to run for cover.
“The only thing that matters in the […] playground is that the kids will be safe in less than 15 seconds,” he said.
Hermelin said many of the children in the area suffer from post-traumatic syndromes.
"Think of a kid who is 13, 14, 15 years old. This is the only reality he knows. He was born into this era. He doesn’t know any other reality, other than being of the alert 24/7. Try to think of a world, of a reality where kids simply could not go out and play as any other kids do anywhere else in the world," he said.
Hannity also spoke with concerned parents at the playground.
“For two days, come live with us, and you’ll understand the feeling of not being safe in your own home,” one parent told Hannity.
